Cesar Chavez & Green Oaks Academy

At Cesar Chavez and Green Oaks Academy we have many extracurricular activities available to help educate the whole student. Please ask the office or your teacher for more information about how you or your child can be a part of these wonderful opportunities.

We are especially please to be offering four different elective options to our 6-8 middle school students this year.  Below are descriptions of the four year long elective options (AVID, band, strings, and multimedia explorations) which students will be able to choose from.

 

 

Description of Electives Classes

Students are invited to join a variety of sports teams throughout the year:

RCSD Sports Teams:

• Soccer
• Basketball
• Volleyball

Playworks Teams:

• Volleyball
• Basketball
• Kickball

Students can take what they learn in class game time and at recess to the next level as Junior Coaches.  Their knowledge of peer mediation, game rules, and collaboration will all for them to lead games and help their peers during recess.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Want to learn the Haka or the Hula?
Study the arts of Polynesian dance with Ms. Sina throughout the year, learning the native dances of Tonga, Samoa, Hawaii and more.  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Want to explore Facebook and work with a mentor in a 10 week internship?  Through out SPARK program, 7th and 8th grade students have the opportunity to work with their mentor to complete a project based on their interests and community outreach/service!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Will this year's assembly be a fashion show, a trivia challenge, or something completely new?  Join the Black History Club to learn more about black history and help share your knowledge with your peers and others without the community.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Want to make a bigger difference at our school and within our community?  Run for student council, part of the Renaissance Team, or be your class representative to help make the changes you want to see.

Care about the environment and wanting to help our school go green?  Join the Green Team and help our school recycle and become more environmentally aware.  Help plant trees around school and raise awareness about recycling!
